We won’t suspend our lecturing for voting- Unilorin VC

 The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Professor Wahab Egbewole SAN, has said that the institution will not shut down its academic activities during the forthcoming general elections. He, however, clarified that students and staff would not be disenfranchised as the university had designed a programme “where students can attend virtual classes and vote wherever they are.” “We won’t suspend our lecturing for voting, Unilorin is digitised,” he added. The VC also said the management of the university had designed the school’s academic programmes to ensure that all lost academic calendars to the 8 months strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities are recovered latest by October while a new academic session begins in August 2023. LAUTECH Outstanding merit, catchment and direct entry admission list has been released.

 This is to inform the general public, especially candidates who seek admission to various programmes in the university for the 2022/2023 academic session that the outstanding merit, catchment and direct entry admission list has been released. Candidates are therefore advised to visit their individual portals to check their admission status. Successful candidates are to patiently wait for release of their notification of recommendation for admission on JAMB CAPS and further information that will be relayed to them through their individual university admission portals. We won’t extend UTME registration deadline, JAMB warns

  The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it would not extend deadline for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it would not extend deadline for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration. According to NAN, Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB registrar, gave the warning after monitoring the registration exercise in Kano state on Wednesday. Registration for this year’s UTME started on January 14 and is scheduled to end on February 14. The exam is billed to commence on April 29 and end on May 12. Speaking on the registration exercise, Oloyede said JAMB’s target for the year is to register 1.8 million candidates He also revealed that the board has so far registered a total of 500,000 candidates across the country.  The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) has registered a total of 351,022 candidates so far for the 2023 UTME, as at the second week of registration.

UNILORIN BEGINS VIRTUAL LECTURE FOR LARGE CLASSES

 As promised by the Vice Chancellor,  Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the University of Ilorin has assigned 500 user accounts of 300-capacity zoom licences to its various Faculties and Departments for the immediate commencement of virtual classes. A statement released to the media by the University's Director of Corporate Affairs,  Mr Kunle Akogun, said that the virtual classes would run simultaneously with physical classes. The statement pointed out that "about 500 user accounts of 300 capacity zoom licences have been assigned to Faculties and Departments for effective virtual delivery of lectures" . It added, "We have also developed virtual class schedule  for courses with class sizes of about 1000, 3000, and 5000 students using the large capacity zoom licences".
